The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company has been providing visitors with a world-class experience since October 4, 1929. The company operates in a National Park and World Heritage Site.

The mountain’s magnetism has a way of drawing people in, compelling them to reach the summit. But getting to the top was not always the effortless trip it is today.

You will find free parking along Tafelberg Road, before and after the Lower Cable Station. Tafelberg Road is steep and winds up to the Lower Cable Station, which is about 1.5km from the Kloof Nek Road turn into Tafelberg Road. There is a traffic circle in front of the Lower Cable Station building, making it easier for tour buses to drop off visitors.

Tafelberg Road, Gardens, Cape Town, 8001

DIRECTIONS The Lower Cable Station is on Tafelberg Road, off Kloof Nek Road, and about a 15-minute drive from the city centre. Just before turning left onto Tafelberg Road, look out for a digital signboard on your right, which indicates whether we are open or closed.

Be on the lookout for directional boards as you come into the city centre on major routes. While many people drive to the Lower Cable Station and park along Tafelberg Road, there are a number of other ways to get here – visit our Getting here page for more info on bus and taxi services, and our free shuttle service.
